  1. You sound perfect for reviewing my novel, Rebirth in Acadi, but I find no way of connecting with you. Here is some info on both the book and me:

REBIRTH IN ACADI is the story of a passing African-American named Louise Dennis who in the late twentieth century, determined to enjoy a prejudice-free life while learning more about the post-Civil War duel in which her illustrious antecedent Dr. Albert Bancroft was killed, moves to the Louisiana river road town where the duel occurred. There, she soon finds herself engaged to a racial bigot who, obviously, must remain ignorant of her ethnicity.

The story -- based on how secrets past and present haunt goings-on of the moment -- is thematically complex. Racism, displacement, and the plight of the disadvantaged, including an unfortunate immigrant, color the journeys of not only Louise but another newcomer to the community, an aging go-getter named Margaret who feels a kinship to the long-departed duelist's wife. She's the one who, also seeking information on the illustrious antecedents involved with the duel, threatens to disrupt Louise's scheme of deception.

Born and raised in Minnesota, Susan Swanson now lives in a New Orleans condo with her Maine Coon cat. Susan's writing gravitates toward both where she grew up and where she lives now. She has been a church organist, piano accompanist for the Suzuki violin program at the University of Minnesota, and -- at least to her mind -- the consummate wife and mother. She began writing when, as empty nesters, she and her late husband took up residence in a dying community on the River Road in Louisiana, where she became enthralled with the bizarre details of the historic duel on which Rebirth in Acadi is based.

Interview with Paula Margulies

Today, I have the opportunity to interview Paula Margulies. She has recently wrote a novel about Pocahontas called Favorite Daughter, Part One , which won an Editor’s Choice Award at the 24th Annual San Diego State University Writer’s Conference. The story creates a different perspective to the American heroine. It is told in first person narrative, and it is how Pocahontas at a young age embarks through the many changes of her life. By doing so she transforms into a strong, courageous, wise woman. I am very pleased that she took the time to grant me this interview and to generously donate a copy of her novel to the giveaway. I look forward to reading her books in the future, and check back for my review of Favorite Daughter’s Part One soon. This interview is to give readers insight about her and her novel. Thank you, Mrs. Margulies. 1. Where and when do you write?  In my home office mostly, although I try to sneak away to artist residencies whenever ...
